fRI Research was on hand to celebrate West Fraser’s 60th birthday on Saturday, September 12 2015. A crowd of local Hintonites turned out for an afternoon of BBQ, mill tours and displays. Hinton mayor Rob Mackin, local MLA Eric Rosendahl and representatives from West Fraser all spoke at the event.
West Fraser, formerly Weldwood, has been with fRI Research since we started in 1992. Since then, they’ve contributed over $10 million to our research and operations. All three of our presidents – Bob Udell, Jim LeLacheur and Rick Bonar – have been employees of Weldwood/West Fraser, as have many of our board members.
In turn, fRI Research has supported West Fraser and our other partners with the knowledge and tools they need to manage the forests they operate in. Some of those key efforts are our Grizzly Bear Program, Caribou Program and Healthy Landscapes Program.
