Future of Alberta's Forests: Impacts of Climate and Landscape Change on Forest Resources

This report shares the results of five studies done to look at the issue of the overall impacts of future climate change on forest condition and health. The five studies were conducted thanks to funding from Alberta Innovates. The five studies involved in this project were:

  1. Development of a suite of climate layers, used as a base for the subsequent studies
  2. Evaluation of the impacts of climate and forest change on stream flow of the Oldman River
  3. Climate vulnerability of grizzly bears using projected changes of 17 commonly consumed foods
  4. Population dynamics of mountain pine beetle in novel habitats and a warming environment
  5. Links between climate, tree species stress and MPB infestation

Due to the size of the report, it is available here in five parts:

  • Introduction and Chapter 1
  • Chapter 2
  • Chapter 3
  • Chapter 4
  • Chapter 5 and bibliography
