Celebrating 25 Years of Informing Land and Resource Management

On October 5, we celebrated the many people behind the organization’s successes:  the researchers who delivered on the science,  the administrators who kept us efficient, and our partners who supported us all along the way.

fRI Research began its life as the Foothills Forest back in November 1992, with a mandate to do relevant, practical science on the landscape. Though we’ve grown and evolved over the past 25 years, that original purpose is still at our core.

The evening featured dinner at the Hinton Training Centre—our longtime base of operations—and stories from General Managers and Presidents, past and present. Our headliner was none other than Bob Udell, founding president of fRI Research and current Forest History Program Lead, who condensed our history down to a minute per year.

Though many happy hours were spent reminiscing about past triumphs, the toast of the night was to another 25 years. Thanks to those who made it out, and for those who didn’t, below are some photos.
