fRI Research Attends the CAPF/CAPFT 2015 Annual General Meeting

Bill Tinge, General Manager of fRI Research was in Edmonton for the Annual General Meeting of the College of Alberta Professional Foresters and Forest Technologists (CAPF/CAPFT), soon to be renamed the AAFMP as the Colleges move towards merging. Approximately 370 people were in attendance.

At present, he two colleges, CAPF and CAPFT are responsible for certifying graduates of recognized foresty diploma programs, allowing them the right to the title of forest professional in Alberta.  Both the content of the diploma programs and the certification exams are informed by forestry research, a subject that fRI Research has made significant contributions to over the decades.

The October 30 event was something of a homecoming for Bill, a longtime CAPFT member. It was a good opportunity to maintain our strong connection with forestry professionals and to raise the profile of fRI Research.

fRI Research provides the industry, government policy makers, and academia with knowledge and tools to improve land management. Bill was able to demonstrate the value our organization provides to foresters and forest technologists across western Canada.
