Sarah Rovang puts the finishing touches on a barbed wire corral. By luring grizzlies into the corral with a mixture of beef blood and canola oil, the barbed wire captures the bears’ hair samples as they go in and out. The samples are then used to analyze the bears’ DNA. The method is much less invasive than the traditional way of tranquilizing the bears to capture DNA samples. |
