Take Your Kid to Work Day

November 1, 2017 was bring your kid to work day for grade 9 students in Hinton. Rémi Duval and Ronan Tew joined us to learn about what their parents do and help out with a few tasks. Here’s what they had to say.

What was the most interesting thing you learned today?

Rémi: I thought you only researched bears, but now I found out you do lots of other stuff and you work with people from other places like Vancouver. I did not know that! I thought that was very interesting.

Ronan: The GIS Program is cool how they do all the mapping and stuff like that. And just how many aspects there are in fRI Research.

You probably met some new people, right?

Rémi: I talked to Cemil [the accountant]. He’s very funny!

Ronan: Dan the GIS guy was really engaging.

Did you figure out what your parent does all day?

Rémi: She’s the co-boss. She keeps track of all the information.

[Julie Duval, the GIS Program Lead, is probably too modest to call herself the co-boss, but this is basically correct.]

Ronan: He’s the general manager. He makes sure everything within fRI Research gets done and he reports back to the board.
