The definition of ecosystem-based management (EBM) has been discussed and debated for more than 25 years within and beyond the academic community – and if anything, only continues to expand. What the Healthy Landscapes Program has learned from this is that there is no single “correct” version, but rather a range of equally legitimate interpretations. So, if we are to make EBM work, it is less about agreeing on a definition, and more about understanding the definition of EBM of others. Towards that, this webinar will openly describe how the Healthy Landscapes Program defines EBM, and why. Our take on EBM reckons back to the seminal EBM literature. This webinar will identify, summarize, compare and contrast the seminal sources of EBM ideas from as close as possible to the source.
