At the Foothills Research Institute‘s caribou workshop in January 2012, Scott Grindal of ConocoPhillips presented information about ongoing actions for caribou conservation being undertaken through OSLI (Oil Sands Leadership Initiative). OSLI is not a research organization, but rather a group involved with actively applying solutions. Projects include footprint mapping, accelerated reforestation, and an examination of the feasibility of perimeter fencing to exclude predators from caribou habitat.
