The last couple weeks of our field season were spent in 10-year old cut blocks, which was a nice change from most of the season spent in taller, 20-year old blocks where you couldn’t see farther than a couple meters around you.
Most days we park and then climb a few hundred meters uphill to the points where our plots would be set up for the day. The views were often pretty amazing! We could see for miles over the rolling foothills, under the often hazy August skies. The fireweed in late bloom painted the surrounding hills in a bright pink hue. It made for a lovely end to a great season!
