Life at Camp

Life at camp in the trailers can be pretty interesting at times. Sharing small trailers and working long days in the field inspires us to cook up some real elaborate meals such as beef barbacoa grilled on charcoal, tagine, and gyros. On other days it can often be a lot more simple, as in steak and potatoes with fresh watermelon salad, burgers, and Smokies sausages over the fire!

Life in the trailers can get cozy and very crowded. Living with your coworkers in such tight spaces in remote areas, you tend to build stronger bonds. Long days in the field, shared meals after work, and those campfire conversations that create memories that can last a lifetime. There have been nights where we’ve been crammed around the same picnic table, somehow watching three different live sporting streams at the same time (Stanley Cup finals, UFC & The World Cup).

Every day at camp is different, some days after hiking/bush whacking for 5km, you want to get back to camp and just rest. As for other days when we finish work a bit earlier, we like to find fun activities to do, such as going for ice cream, swimming in a nearby lake or river, going birding, and running. Whenever we can, some of the crew likes to go fishing down by the river/lake. While on rainy days, we tend to stay in the trailers where it’s dry, and play cards or other fun games that are around.
