An Evaluation of Population Monitoring Methods for Arctic Grayling in Alberta

Quantifying the efficiency of different Arctic grayling survey methods.

Do to a large decrease in abundance in Alberta, Arctic grayling are a candidate for being listed under the Species At Risk Act. To support policy-makers in making a decision on this species, this project is studying how successful angling and backpack electrofishing are at detecting Arctic grayling, so that appropriate survey methods and catchability estimates can be used to establish population sizes.
