Arctic grayling populations have declined significantly in Alberta, leading to the loss of the Swan River First Nation’s treaty right. The Water and Fish Program is working with the Swan River First Nation to survey the Swan River watershed for Arctic grayling and if certain human activities are associated with changes in Arctic grayling abundance.

This poster presented an update on the project at the October 2026 Wild Trout Symposium.
