Welcome Dr. John Wilmshurst, Healthy Landscapes Program Coordinator

Warmest welcome to our new Healthy Landscapes Program Coordinator, Dr. John Wilmshurst!

Led by Dr. Dave Andison and backed by its partners, the Healthy Landscapes Program has been increasing the scope of its initiatives, from research as far south as the US border and as far north as the treeline, to building an entire modeling framework, to dedicated outreach activities. The team recognized the need for someone to help Andison coordinate and advance all these initiatives.

“John will be integral to the continued growth of the Program.” says Andison, the Program Lead, “And in creating this new position, our partners are demonstrating their full support for the Program’s evolution.”

Wilmshurst comes with a wealth of experience in ecology and remote sensing from Ontario to British Columbia. He has worked as a scientist for the Governments of Canada and BC, is an adjunct professor at the University of Saskatchewan, ran his own consulting company, and served as the Executive Director of the Alberta Chapter of the Wildlife Society.

Now in its 23rd year, the Healthy Landscapes Program is primed to make use of John’s impeccable scientific, communications, and managerial skills as it continues to conduct ground-breaking research and support the adoption of ecosystem-based management across Canada.
